Celtic the Gladiator is one of the biggest sporting events in Ireland. Today’s MMA has its roots in the Brazilian Vale Tudo tournaments in the 1920s, and the sport made an international breakthrough with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held in 1993 in the US. Today’s MMA fighters can win their match by: points, the participant gives up, knock-out, the referee breaks up the match. The match has run its allotted amount of time, and the judges (usually three judges) determine the winner based on activity, techniques etc.The fighter gives up. The fighter will either tap the opponent’s body or mat as submission. The fighter may also give up verbally during an ongoing match or during the pause of a round.Knock Out. The referee determines that the fighter cannot continue after a count to ten.The referee stops the match. This happens either if the fighter has broken the existing rules time after time, or if the referee decides that the opponent is not able to continue safely.Competitors can fight both in the ground floor and in the mandarin collar. The State Athletic Commission Jersey codified  the martial arts in 2000. We distinguish the following classes of competitors:

1. Flyweight - Under 125.9 lbs
2. Bantamweight - 126 it is 134.9 lbs
3. Featherweight - 135 it is 144.9 lbs
4. Lightweight - 145 it is 154.9 lbs
5. Welterweight - 155 it is 169.9 lbs
6. Middleweight - 170 it is 184.9 lbs
7. Light Heavyweight - 185 it is 204.9 lbs
8. Heavyweight - 204 it is 264.9 lbs
